Current research has determined that the key to breast cancer survival rests upon its earliest possible detection. If breast cancer is discovered in its earliest stages, 95% cure rates are possible.
Mammograms are included in most health plans as a preventative doctor’s visit and recommended by physicians and OB/GYNs at women’s regular office visits. Most women blindly follow the advice to get a mammogram screening yearly, starting at age 40.
Here’s the important news: mammograms do NOT lead to a drop in death rate of breast cancer. The death rate drops with EARLY DETECTION. Mammograms do not equate with early detection. In fact, it takes about 10 years for a tumor to reach a size that is detectable by a mammogram. By that stage, treatment often ends up with major surgery, loss of breast/s and surrounding tissue (muscle, lymph), chemo, radiation, and hormonal therapy.
Mammograms use ionizing radiation, this can and does cause irreparable damage to DNA. This type of radiation (1 Gy) has been demonstrated to cause 5 times more cancer (than chest x-ray Gy). Each series of mammograms increases a pre-menopausal woman’s risk of developing breast cancer by 1% per breast. If women followed the American Cancer Society’s recommendation to have mammograms yearly from age 40 to 50, that is a 10% increase per breast above whatever one’s risk already is!
Lastly, mammograms are painful and compress breast tissue enough that blood vessels surrounding small undetectable tumors can burst, accelerating growth and spread of cancer cells.
Here’s the good news.
There is another method that DOES offer early detection, it’s called thermography. Thermography is a painless, non-radiation heat sensitive camera that can detect a tumor when it reaches the size of a pin head, about 2 years growth. It is the only method that can do this. Thermography has the ability to warn women up to 10 years before any other procedure that a cancer may be forming.

We have teamed up with CLEAR Center of Health in Mill Valley. They are giving patients of Community Acupuncture of Marin a 20% discount on thermography. Just mention you are a patient of the clinic when making your appointment. It is recommended to start thermography sceenings at age 25 – because most women who find out they have cancer at age 35 and up have already had the tumors for 10 or more years. Do the math…
I recently had my first thermogram. The procedure is painless, has no risk and takes only 15 minutes.
Thermal imaging is one of the most essential tests in breast cancer risk assessment and early detection. Don’t be fooled by your insurance policy! Bring this data to any M.D. who recommends a mammogram… and PLZ, share with ALL WOMEN!
