I find it delightfully refreshing the ease with which one who has never played a drum can jump right in. I see glee on the faces of participants as they realize how much fun they are having.
The drum circle is an ancient and incredibly effective tool to connect people to each other and our surroundings. The simple act of sitting in a circle (not rows), where you can see and feel each person, naturally gives us an experience of greater equality and connection. When playing in a drum circle, a participant can easily align rhythmically with all the other participants, whether it's 5 or 50 people.
Imagine the amazing energy at a sporting event when fans are aligned; cheering for their team. Drum circles are similar; we align in our intention to play in unison. Then, we can let go into the fun that naturally arises in the simple act of playing together.
After only minutes in a drum circle, social fears melt, the walls between us fall away and we easily drop into the experience of community. I hope you join us!
