Do your friends cringe when you tell them you get acupuncture? Lots of people are afraid it will hurt. The fear of needles is totally understandable. Most of us had to get shots as kids and developed an aversion to needles. Hypodermic needles, the ones used for injections or for drawing blood however, are much bigger than acupuncture needles because they are hollow.
Acupuncture needles are about the width of a hair. Because they are so small and flexible, acupuncture needles don’t feel anything like a shot. There are sensations that go along with acupuncture – but usually these sensations are not associated with a pricking/injection kind of feeling. It is truly quite rare for someone to not tolerate these sensations. In fact, most people, even the most anxious ones, come back for more – over and over again!
If you have friends that would benefit from acupuncture but are afraid of taking the step out of fear of needles (or for any other reason); bring them to our Open House this Saturday from 2 – 6 pm for a free ear acupuncture treatment. It’s a great way to introduce someone to the benefits of acupuncture. See you there!
